Turkish Roundmaille and Roundmaille are two seriously gorgeous and substantial triplicate chain maille weaves. In this combined workshop you will learn both Turkish Roundmaille and Roundmaille. This workshop is taught in the context of a bracelet. Using copper jump rings you will make a little of both weaves, and then make a bracelet using sterling silver jump rings in your choice of either Turkish Roundmaille or Roundmaille.
Both of these chain maille weaves look terrific as a necklace, and although this workshop is taught in the context of a bracelet, extra rings will be available to buy should you wish to “keep going” and make a necklace. In particular, Roundmaille makes an absolutely perfect short necklace with an attractive clasp fastened to the front.
We will cover finishing techniques, including the addition of your chosen clasp, with emphasis on strength. It is unlikely that you will finish your bracelet in class, although you should complete at least half of it.
As clasps are very personal to the wearer, we include a simple yet sturdy bolt ring clasp with each of our workshops as our gift to you and always have a lovely selection of clasps available for purchase which cater for a variety of needs, preferences and tastes should you wish to personalise your creation.
This workshop includes enough materials to make a sterling silver Turkish Roundmaille chain maille bracelet up to 8.5 inches in length. As Roundmaille is denser and therefore takes more jump rings per inch than Turkish Roundmaille, there will be a small supplement of £6.00 if you choose to make your bracelet using the Roundmaille weave. This supplement will be payable on the day of the workshop. With these extra rings you will have enough rings to make a Roundmaille bracelet up to 8.5 inches in length.
As both of these weaves are “fat” you need a slightly longer length to fit around your wrist compared to a “skinny” bracelet.
Previous experience: A working knowledge of at least one other chain maille weave is essential.
Cost of workshop: £ 64.00
